Intermediate Data Scientist – South Africa

Responsibilities:
- Ability to write complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyse data from relational databases efficiently.
- Strong analytical mindset with the capability to derive actionable insights from large datasets, identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies.
- Experience in providing analytical insights to support operational decision-making processes, including but not limited to forecasting, optimisation, and performance monitoring.
- Proficiency in data manipulation techniques using coding languages like SQL, Python or R, including data cleaning, transformation, and feature engineering.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to tackle complex business problems using data-driven approaches, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
Qualifications and experience:
- Have a degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or similar
- 4-6 years of experience as a Data Scientist
- Experience in SQL, SAS and Power BI
- Have experience with scorecards
- Have experience with stakeholder engagement
- Experience with reporting
